Finding an image
To view the latest work simply type the month and year eg 'March 2007' then click on 'quick search’. Assuming any images were taken that month they should then be shown.
quick search
You can locate a particular image by using the search engine on the home page headed ‘quick search’.
Perhaps the simplest way is to type either the common name or scientific name. Then click the words ‘quick search’ or hit the return button on your computer. The images will then appear. You can use keywords such as for behaviour (eg yawning, flying etc).
If you are after portrait images only as opposed to landscape images enter the word ‘portrait’.
The categories of keywords we use, with some examples, are:
-
common and scientific species names
-
type of animal (birds, insects, mammals, reptiles)
-
country names and county names in UK
-
habitats & natural features (waterfalls, saltmarsh, icebergs)
-
time (date taken)
-
colour
-
parts of plants (flowers, leaves)
-
animal behaviour (flying, feeding)
-
animal anatomy (eyes, skin)
-
moods (cute, humorous, sad)
-
media (close-ups, abstract patterns)
-
environmental (conservation, wind turbines etc)
-
inserting the most recent month will bring up the most recent work by Robin Chittenden
-
typing a minus sign (-) gets everything except (Sandpiper-Wood will show photographs of all the Sandpipers other than the Wood Sandpiper)
-
typing a * allows a wildcard search (sand* will get all images with sand eg Sandhill Crane, Wood Sandpiper, Sand dunes etc)
Note 'least' and 'little' can not be searched for.
index box
Scroll through the list of photographs using the index box.
-
Choose the type of animal (eg insects, mammals, birds etc).
-
Then clicking on the index search again will reveal the species in alphabetical order of their family (eg Albatross, Antbird etc).
-
Clicking on the family will reveal the species.
Once you have located an image click on it to enlarge it.
If you would like to order a print or request to image for publication then follow the instructions that appear below the image. We will then contact you to confirm your order.
Lightbox
The lightbox can be used to consult other people about your selection. With the large image click ‘add to lightbox’ below the image. The lightbox page will then appear complete with a specific web address. You can then send this address to your clients for their confirmation of your choice, before submitting your order. Alternatively you could print the images.
To add more images to your lightbox select an image as before, click on it to enlarge and then, click on ‘add to lightbox’ again.
To delete click on the image in the lightbox and a delete request will show below the image.
Once you are happy with your selection click on the order button. Staff at Harlequin Pictures will then contact you to confirm your order.
Note you can only have one lightbox and associated address at a time. So to get a new lightbox you will need to delete all the images in your original lightbox before selecting again.
If you have more than one on going selection process, please contact us and we can email you a selection direct, which you can then forward to your clients.
